In 1908, those in charge of the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society made a profound decision to move the headquarters from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Brooklyn, New York. The former Plymouth Church building, the so-called “Plymouth Bethel”, was acquired and, after being renovated, handed over to it served a new purpose on January 1909. But unlike the “Bible House” in Pittsburgh, this building only had office space and a large meeting room called the Chapel, but noresidential space. Therefore, in Brooklyn, near the “Tabernacle”, another building was acquired, the so-called “Henry Ward Beecher Bethel”, at 124 Columbia Heights. The following treatise covers both buildings and shows their history as well as their functionality.
